Single-use plastics, or disposable plastics, are used only once before they are thrown away or recycled. These items are things like plastic bags, straws, coffee stirrers, soda and water bottles and most food packaging.
Single Use Plastic is a public and environmental health hazard. We can reduce our consumption of single use plastic at restaurants if we know which are avoiding, eliminating, or reducing the single use plastic they pass on to the customer---you. Plastic pollution is persistent and accumulates in the food chain. It is a problem of immense proportions, but you can reduce your personal single use plastic consumption the next time you go out to eat, order take-out, or bring home leftovers.
